HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) has provisionally approved $793.4 million in Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) grant funding to connect all remaining unserved locations across the state. The proposal now enters a brief public comment phase before final submission to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for approval.

Representatives of the project were in Duncansville Friday to celebrate a milestone in the project. While thousands of rural households are still offline, state efforts to bring affordable, high-speed internet to all parts of Pennsylvania is finally connecting more and more households, with the expansion into Juniata Township now complete.
Duncansville, PA – Today, Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) Executive Director Brandon Carson joined Alleghenies Broadband and Crowsnest Broadband to announce the completion of the first portion of the company’s more than $2.4 million network expansion in Blair County. When fully completed the network expansion will provide 70 new miles of vital, 100 percent wireline fiber optic broadband access to more than 530 rural locations that currently lack access to high-speed internet.

Hundreds of laptops will soon be distributed to local schools and community nonprofits in Philadelphia, thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority aimed at expanding digital access and equity across the state.
