Four fiber-optic projects that will improve the county’s broadband access and high-speed internet were approved April 18 by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. The $204 million Broadband Infrastructure Program (BIP) funded by the ARPA Capital Projects Fund resulted in 53 project awards, affecting 42 counties state-wide.
Comcast announced it has been selected by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as part of the Broadband Infrastructure Program funded by the Capital Projects Fund (CPF), to expand its network across 158 municipalities.
The announcement brings the total number of states that have received full approval to seven. In addition, the District of Columbia has received full approval.
The state’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Initial Proposal – Volume II was approved Tuesday by the federal Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
